Des Peres, Missouri
Located on the eastern border of Missouri, in St. Louis County, the town now known as Des Peres was once inhabited by various native tribes, including the Cahokia, the Kaskaskia, the Michigamea, the Moingwena, and the Tamaroa tribes. Given the fact that the area around Des Peres was settled largely by German immigrants, the French name “Des Peres” may seem an odd choice; however, the area was named long before the town was officially formed. In fact, Des Peres is believed to be the oldest European settlement in Missouri. As far back as 1700, some Kaskaskia Native Americans and French are believed to have settled in the area. In 1701, a group of Jesuit missionaries established a settlement on the banks of the Mississippi River near the mouth of the Des Peres River. The name “Des Peres,” which means “of the fathers,” traces its origins back to that early settlement. It wasn’t until the middle of the 19th century that large number of mainly German immigrants, attracted to the farmland sold by the U.S. government, began to settle in the area.
Covering just over four square miles, the town of Des Peres was home to 8,373 residents as of the 2010 Census. Located just west of the much large city of St. Louis, Des Peres residents and visitors alike will find the small community atmosphere peaceful and charming with all the amenities of a metropolitan city just a short car ride away.

We strive to develop and nurture lasting relationships with our estate planning clients because we know how important a long-term relationship is to the success of an estate plan. Estate planning, when done properly, is not something that is completed in one sitting and not revisited. On the contrary, to gain the maximum benefit from your estate plan it should be reviewed and updated throughout the course of your life as your needs and objectives change. The focus of your initial estate plan, for example, may simply be to ensure that you do not leave behind an intestate estate. Consequently, a Last Will and Testament may be all you need. As you move through the various stages of your life, however, that Will may become inadequate to protect your assets and your loved ones. It may become necessary, therefore, to include additional components into your estate plan, such as an incapacity planning component or probate avoidance strategies. You may also decide that a trust is needed to protect your minor child’s inheritance. You may also need to consider tax avoidance and asset protection tools as the value of your estate grows over the course of your life. As you get closer to retirement age, you will want to incorporate your retirement plans into your estate plan to ensure that they work well together. Finally, you may need to add Medicaid planning to your comprehensive estate plan to account for the high cost of long-term care along with funeral and burial planning tools to ensure that your final wishes are honored. The estate planning team at Amen, Gantner & Capriano, Your Estate Matters, LLC would be honored to be your choice to help you create an estate plan that achieves all your unique estate planning needs and goals.
