Communities We Serve – Sunset Hills

A well thought out, and properly drafted, estate plan can protect you, your assets, and your loved ones throughout the course of your life and even after you are gone. Given the purpose and importance of your estate plan, care should be taken when choosing an estate planning attorney to assist you with the creation of your plan. The estate planning attorneys at Amen, Gantner & Capriano, Your Estate Matter, LLC understand how important it is to choose the right attorney to work with you on your estate plan. As such, we are honored to be the estate planning law firm of choice for so many of our friends and neighbors in Sunset Hills, Missouri.

The History of Sunset Hills, Missouri

Like much of the area, the area that eventually became the city of Sunset Hills was once populated by Native American peoples. Following the Seven Years War,  French colonists moved from east of the Mississippi River to the area.  The sale and transfer of French Louisiana to the United States on October 1, 1804 effectively opened up the area to other settlers as well. Over the next 100 years, a slow but steady growth occurred throughout the immediate area. By the middle of the 20th century, many of the towns surrounding the now booming city of St. Louis began to incorporate, including Sunset Hills which incorporated in June 1957. In the 1970s, the city established its own Police Department and created its own public works department the following decade.

Sunset Hills, Missouri Today

The city also has an aquatic facility as well as a dog park for residents to enjoy. You will find that residents of Sunset Hills enjoy the friendly neighborhood benefits of living in a small town while having access to the dining, shopping, and entertainment options found in the City of St. Louis just a short car ride away.

Creating a comprehensive estate plan is among the most important endeavors you will undertake during the course of your lifetime.  At Amen, Gantner & Capriano we understand the importance of your estate plan to you and to your family which is why our goal is always to create lasting relationships with each of our Sunset Hills, Missouri clients. That relationship helps ensure that we can meet your estate planning needs, goals, and wishes both now and in the future.

We believe in creating lasting relationships with our clients because estate planning should be an ongoing endeavor throughout your lifetime.  It is rare that an initial estate plan remains sufficient over the course of the creator’s lifetime. Typically, as you pass through the various stages of your life, your estate plan will need to be reviewed and updated to mark the changes that occur during those stages. As a young, single, adult who is just beginning to build an estate, your estate planning concerns may be limited to a Last Will and Testament and incapacity planning. When you have a spouse and/or minor children to protect and provide for, you may wish to incorporate additional estate planning components such as incapacity planning, a trust to protect your children’s inheritance, and probate avoidance strategies to ensure the assets you leave behind are immediately available to your loved ones.  As your asset portfolio grows, you may need to incorporate assets protection and tax avoidance strategies into your estate plan. As you move toward your retirement years, Medicaid planning may be necessary to ensure that your assets are not lost to the high cost of long-term care. Funeral and burial planning as well as an advanced directive should also be considered if you have strongly held beliefs with regard to end of life medical treatment and/or the manner in which your body should be handled after your death. At Amen, Gantner & Capriano, Your Estate Matters, LLC we would be honored to work with you on your estate plan now and in the years to come to ensure that you and your loved ones are protected.
